Conflict Resolution Day: Circle Process and the Peacemaker's Toolkit, presented by Andrew Kull, Esq.

Time 12 -1:30 PM

Location: Zoom

The practice of coming together to resolve our problems in a structured, relational process held by skilled Peacemakers is profoundly simple and highly effective.  Judicial peacemaking programs in Native American tribal courts across North America have enjoyed great success for decades.  Now a new generation of mediators, lawyers, judges and leaders are finding Peacemaking tremendously beneficial beyond cultural settings, in mainstream practice–resolving tough conflict at the root, inspiring how we work together, and increasing our own job satisfaction.

This session is an overview of what Peacemaking really is, the fundamental tools in our kits, and an introduction to the core practice of Peacemaking (circle process).  Mediators are Peacemakers already, yet we are often frustrated by the pervasive effects of adversarial process and thinking. Peacemaking offers a refreshing path forward.  The session will conclude with an interactive, mini Peacemaking Circle.

About Andrew J. Kull, Esq.

Andy Kull brings his love of Peacemaking to the world because he knows it helps everyone.  Facilitating Peacemaking process to resolve conflict between parties or within organizations; applying relational tools in his nonprofit law practice to 501(c)(3) startup and governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions; and offering non-adversarial professional development training and coaching to leaders, lawyers, mediators, and anyone that will participate!  Andy comes from mixed European ancestry, lives in Brunswick, Maine (Wabanaki country) with family and pets, and spends time at his wife’s ranch in the Texas Hill Country.  He received an undergraduate degree from Brown University (1995), a J.D. from Maine Law (2002), and lived a prior life as a commercial attorney and litigator.  Andy credits all his work to his mentors, including the Native American elders, Tibetan Buddhist masters, and wonderful friends, colleagues and relations that he has had the great fortune to hang around, study and collaborate with for over 30 years.
