In recognition of the international conflict that drives many to seek safety, security, and prosperity within the United States, this special event on Conflict Resolution Day invites participants to learn from the experience of new Mainers who arrived as migrants, asylum seekers, or internationally displaced persons, and those who support new Mainers after their arrival. The event will feature a panel of presenters sharing information about how conflict abroad can drive the desire to emigrate and what conflicts or challenges individuals experience after arriving in the United States. Special attention will be paid to ways in which conflict resolution professionals in Maine can help reduce or address conflict upon arrival in the U.S., as we work to create a welcoming environment for all who are impacted by international conflict.
