Background
Sarah chose a legal career with an intent to focus on land conservation and all matters involving real estate. In addition to a real estate transaction practice with an emphasis on land conservation, Sarah's litigation practice has focused on real estate disputes. She has represented clients with title issues, boundary disputes, easement disputes, partitions or joint management disputes pertaining to family lands. After nearly two decades of vigorous advocacy and litigation, Sarah is developing a mediation practice with an aim to help neighbors and family members resolve disputes in a more amicable manner so that future relationships between the parties can be rebuilt. In addition to the typical "caucus" format of mediation that is common in Maine's Rule 16B ADRs, Sarah's training at Harvard PON focused on the "understanding format" involving parties working through mediation in the same room and over multiple sessions. She will work with the attorneys to select the format best suited to the parties' personalities and nature of the dispute.
